PROJECT DETAILS
A narrative told through abstract visual vignettes comprised of Courtney Love, Danny Devito, hedgehogs, U.F.O.s, and sunflowers - a juxtaposition of whimsy and grotesque subjects.
The embroidery medium is crucial - shifting the paradigm of the traditionally expected content of embroidery such as flowers, landscapes, and other banal topics. The trope of conventional imagery is explored and integrated into a stranger context.
In theme with the narrative behind the embroidery, I created line focused drawings that draw parallel to tattoo artist's flash tattoo sheets.
